Horseback Riding Rules
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled ride so there’s time to wash your hands, sign your waivers, and get ready for your ride. Don’t be late or your ride may be cut short!!
Jeans or long pants and boots or tennis shoes are required to ride at Splendor Farms! No shorts, no crocs, no flipflops!!
Our weight maximum per horse is 250 pounds.
We do not ride bareback or ride double on horses!
Ages 7 and up are allowed to ride on the trails. However, we reserve the right to alter age requirements based on an individual’s maturity and riding experience level.
For children ages 2-6, we offer rides in our arena for a dollar per minute, 20 minute minimum.
Horseback Riding Policies
Reservations: We schedule our rides by reservation. A valid credit card is required to book your reservation. During the current health crisis, we require pre-payment in full for all horseback riding reservations.
Cancellations: If you cancel at least 24 hours PRIOR to your reserved group ride, your deposit can be used as credit towards a ride in the future. WE DO NOT CANCEL rides due to light rain. We provide ponchos if you don’t have one. WE DO CANCEL if weather is dangerous — i.e, high heat, storms with lightning, high winds, tornado warnings/watches. Remember, it may be pouring rain in New Orleans and partly cloudy and beautiful up here in the country! Don’t rely on the weatherman!! If your ride is cancelled due to rain, you must rebook within 6 months.
No Shows: If you or members of your party do not show up or stay for your scheduled ride, your credit card will be charged for the entire ride, including tax. All deposits and/or prepaid vouchers (e.g., Groupon, LivingSocial, Amazon Local, Gift/Auction certificates, etc.) will be forfeited.
Personal Checks: Bounced check fee is $50.00. Stopped payment check fee is $100.00.
Waiver Form for Minors: Children under age 18 riding without a parent or guardian must bring a completed Waiver Form signed by a parent/guardian and dated the day of the ride. No exceptions.
Pregnant Riders: Ladies, if you are pregnant, you must have a signed authorization from your OB-GYN stating you are able to ride and the date you are going to ride. If you do not have a written “okay from your doctor” we CANNOT let you ride.
*Special Needs Riders: Due to insurance limitations, we cannot accept special needs riders on our trails. Please contact New Heights in Folsom, Louisiana regarding trail rides for special needs riders as they may be able to direct you to a facility, which can help you.
Special Deals: LivingSocial and Groupon trail riding deals cannot be combined with each other or with any other Splendor Farms special or package. Vouchers from deal sites can be extended by 6 months for a $50.00 extension fee. Expired vouchers can be used as credit in the amount and for the activity purchased.
