"Kelly, thank you so much for one of the best days I have spent with my kids and nephew. We all had a blast from the Horseback riding, animal petting (baby goats was all of our favorite), and fishing. We can't count how many fish we caught.
Your staff was super excellent as well. Maddi, our guide was great!
We will definitely be seeing you again. Best Christmas Present according to my girls! "

Splendor Farms Field Trip in Times-Picayune!!
The Culture Club at Eleanor Mc Main Secondary School in New Orleans recently spent the day at Splendor Farms on a horseback-riding field trip!
Read about the field trip in this Times-Picayune article
Waldorf School Field Trip
On May 3rd, the second & third grades of the Waldorf School of New Orleans came to the farm to be farmers. Coming in after school as city kids, they spent the night in the bunkhouse and woke up the next morning as farmers! Pulling on their boots and jeans at 6:30 a.m. (we let them sleep in an extra couple of hours!) they went out to feed the horses and do farm chores even in the rain!
See below for photos and also see the schedule we created just for them. Thanks for coming and helping do farm chores! Ya'll come back and see us soon!! Have a great summer!
Getting ready to worm goats
Learning how to scrub stall water buckets
Learning to ride horses
Refilling the water buckets
Filling up the hay racks
"Had a parent evening tonight with my parents, and the farm is all the buzz. The kids want to come back with families, I talked about Bed and Breakfast, some families want to come spend the day, and I also talked up horse camp. Hope you get to see some this summer! And then we'll be back with the whole class next year...can't wait! You and your farm are SO special!!"

Home-schooled boys Nate (age 11), Henry (10), and Buck (4, above) spent a week at Splendor Farms with mom (Bethany) riding horses and learning all about farm living!! Bethany and the boys are spending a year traveling the
US and globe, learning about history, literature, science, and art, while publishing an "edublog" with details from their travels. Brilliant!!
"Kelly, The boys and I had an incredible time here at Splendor Farms! Who knew a 5, 10, & 11 year old would bicker over who got to feed the chickens, who got to collect the eggs, who got to feed the goats?! The trail rides were beautiful and thanks for teaching us so much about horses and the other animals! Thanks to Brett for his guided rides and patience, too! Your guidance on day trips to New Orleans, Abita Springs, and Covington made for terrific adventures! Also, the breakfasts were delicious! Thanks for sharing your special place with our family!

Thank you so much for our wonderful day, we really enjoyed our time. My fiance absolutely loved being back on a horse after so many years of not being on one. We couldn't have asked for a better day/experience. We will surely be back and are very excited about ya'll being so close. We have a 3 year old nephew that we would like to show the goats and sheep. Again thanks for the day and we look forward to seeing you soon.

I just wanted to say thank you for letting me spend the day at Splendor Farms. I love Casper, he's so cute and short. Hopefully next time I come to one of the camps or just to ride I can ride him again.
P.S. Please let me know when Sweetheart gets better, and give her a big kiss on the nose!" - Lauren P.
Church Retreat Group Returns!!
For the second year, Pastor Barriere has brought his church, the Household of Faith, to Splendor Farms for their annual men & boys retreat. "Hi, Kelly! We had such a great time Saturday. James and Ashley were fantastic! So tell them I will have to get them next time! And we are looking into the October session now for Paige. She just adores you and all of your pets :) Being a single mom, with 2 'almost teenagers', it's a sigh of relief to get them to stop fighting long enough to smile and share a day with me with no fussing, and you helped create that day for us. Thanks so much!"
- Jamie N., mother of Paige
Tressa & Jeff
Jeff surprised Tressa on her birthday by bringing her to do a Spend the Day at Splendor Farms. After going on a two hour trail ride (first time either had ridden) they came back to a lunch of fried chicken, baked macaroni & cheese, fresh snap beans, tomato & cucumber salad, and garlic bread! To celebrate the birthday girl, dessert was an angel food cake with strawberries and homemade whipped cream! Happy Birthday, Tressa!
"I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful day Friday! We really appreciated your hospitality and undivided attention. And the food was amazing....by far the best home-cooked meal I've ever had. The horses were wonderful, and the trail ride was an adventure. It was the most memorable and wonderful birthday ever!!" - Tressa
Kirstin & Andrew
Andrew, a specialist with the US Army, and his girlfriend, Kirstin, came to spend the day at Splendor Farms before he is transferred to Alaska. Arriving early gave them the chance to explore the farm while the horses were getting ready for the trail. The lunch prepared for them was Chicken Spaghetti Katherine with fresh snap beans from the garden and salad with garlic bread. Dessert was lemon cake with blueberry sauce. Even though they didn't bring bathing suits, they went to the nearby Dollar General and purchased some so they could relax on the rafts in the pool. Leaving that afternoon, "Pocket" (shown below) won the lottery! They took her home to live with Kirstin when Specialist Andrew goes back to work!

On January 8th, an unusually warm day, Tina organized a surprise birthday gift for Carol: a two-and-a-half hour trail ride and BBQ lunch consisting of chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, tomato/cucumber salad, lemonade from our meyer lemon trees and a cake with ice cream! A special treat was getting to watch us slaughter guinea hens for dinner that night! Carol could have done without that part!!!
