Horse/Farm Camp

CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY CAMP QUESTIONS

Splendor Farms is a "girls only" horse/farm camp created out of my love of animals and desire to share my farm with "city" "horse crazy" and "I want to be a vet when I grow up" girls from ages six and up. This camp is designed to give girls an opportunity to learn cooperation, self-confidence, and teamwork through hands-on instruction on a real working farm. They will not only learn the basics of horsemanship by daily grooming, saddling, riding lessons, and a trail ride, but also enjoy many other activities including a rodeo, horse games, arts and crafts, swimming, and garden harvesting and cooking lessons. There will be field trips to local berry, alpaca, and dairy farms, and more! Also, guest speakers, such as farriers, equine veterinarians & massage therapists (yes, horses need massages, too!) on various subjects like Equine Digestion & Nutrition & Equine Dentistry! Day camps and overnight camps are offered.

Our camp counselors are some of the best around and each counselor is CPR certified and has many years of camp and equine experience.

See the photos from past summers to get an idea what we offer or watch this video made by Madison Monroe, and others!!

Farm Visits can be made prior to enrolling for camp. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Kelly on the last day of Summer Camp 2011:

Well, it was another successful summer camp! Only two girls went home, two girls fell off, one girl got kicked and only one allergy attack! (and no ambulances!) Thanks to all the friends and families who supported the girls when they were unsure of their riding abilities! Thanks to all you campers for bringing your smile every morning! Thanks to those of you who showed up on the first day of your session, having never ridden a horse before, and then by rodeo day you were loping around the arena! You make me so proud!! And thanks to all you experienced girls who encouraged and helped the new girls to be comfortable on the horse and on the ground next to them! And, lastly, to my counselors, Kristen, Kelle, Madison, Samantha, Makayla, Macayle, Lizzie, and Avery....thanks for making another summer of memories for me and for the awesome last day of camp rodeo! I love you all and thank you from the bottom of my stirrup for my flowers! It was a first!!!

See ya at the barn!!!!!!

CAMP COMMENTS:

"My daughter has been going to the summer and holiday camps for several years. Kelly is an engaged and thoughtful teacher who is an incredible role model and mentor for the girls. This is not your ordinary horse camp. Worth the extra $$ and drive!"
--
Stef K.

"Kelly, good morning. I want to thank you so much for the wonderful camp. Sophie thoroughly enjoyed it. Her enthusiasm about attending was wonderful; especially since she had some doubts before it actually started. You were so organized and everything so well planned. So, again, thank you. Regards,"
--
Linda N. (mother of Sophie)

"Subject: Middle of the Month Camps

Thank you. Anya had such a great time. And I see the difference that one week made in her. She matured, she has more self confidence. If I had any doubts about sending her to your camp, they are obliterated. Anya and I had a long talk over the weekend about camps and quality versus quantity for our bucks. We have decided to go with quality, as in your camps Thank you again,"
--
Jacinta G. (mother of Anya)

"Dear Kelly, Kristen had a fantastic week with you. She is so proud of her accomplishments as we are. You did an amazing job with the girls in such a short time! You have opened her eyes to many new things that she never thought she could do. Thank you! Sincerely," -- Susan C. (mother of Kristin C.)

"Lizzie is enjoying being out there this summer as always. Thanks so much for providing these girls with such a wonderful, positive place where they can spend their time. Thanks again," -- Sarah (mother of Lizzie)

"Hi, Kelly! Annabelle really had a great time. I think it was a perfect balance of activities to keep them happy. I think you run a top notch horse camp and Annabelle is begging to return next year. Girls and horses just go together. Thanks for giving her a great start to her summer."
--
Melissa L. (mother of Annabelle)

"Rylie had a great week. She LOVED it!!!!!"
--
Rylie's Mom

"Thank you Ms. Kelly for yet another memorable week!"
--
Alexa's Mom

"Kelly, Larkin had a wonderful experience!! She can't wait for lessons to start in the fall and hopefully a holiday camp! I was so impressed with the rodeo! Hard to believe how far she's come in such a short time. She also loved all of the counselors. Thanks!" -- Leslie P. (Larkin's mom)

"I had such a fun time at camp this week! Thanks so much Mrs. Kelly for having me and I will be back soon! :) By the way, I LOVE Stella!" -- Maddy R.

"Thanks again for another wonderful camp experience for Cameron! She can't get enough of Splendor Farms!!" -- Cathy H. (Cameron's mom)

"Thanks for all you do!! Leah matures and self confidence surges every time she comes home from you :):)" -- Katherine G. (Leah's mom)

"Leah, as usual, had an amazing time and is counting the days to come back, this camp is so great for her little soul:):)" -- Katherine G. (Leah's mom)

"I can't even begin to tell you how AWESOME of an experience Kylie had at session VII. She has not stopped talking about the camp all day. She expressed how sweet all the girls were & how much FUN she had! I truly can't thank you enough for everything you do for the girls! What I like the best about the camp is how you teach teamwork & responsibility. I love how the girls have chores, cook, go on field trips, feed animals early in the morning & go to bed early. You are actually preparing them for the real world. I tell everyone how wonderful of a place Splendor Farms is. If Kylie could move in with you she would. Kylie dreams of living on a farm one day & begs us to move out in the country. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Kylie & teaching her all about horses."
--
Nicole K. (Kylie's mom)

"Julia cried all the way home because she missed Splendor Farms. She just can't stand that the week was over. I would say it was a big hit."
--
Devona K. (Julia's mom)

"Peyton had a wonderful time at your camp! She can't stop talking about it or drawing pictures of Sunny. When she came home I asked her if she missed Mimi and Papa, she said she only missed Sunny! Thank you so much for all that you did with her, it means so much. We will definitely send her to your camp again next time we're in town." -- Nicole G. (Peyton's mom)

"Kelsey has a great time every time she attends and is looking forward to attending more camps in the future!" -- Sheri C. (Kelsey's mom)

"Thought you may enjoy this. Tonight we have an open house at Kelly's school. One of her projects to show the parents is a big thing with different things about herself on it. Likes/dislikes, favorite things to do, movies, books, etc. One of the things was 'Who is your hero?' Needless to say, she has you down with a picture of you on a horse that she downloaded off your web site. I'll take a picture of it and send to you. You have made quite an impression on both of my girls and I like that very much. If I had to pick role models for them to look up to, you would definitely be way at the top of the list" -- Margie B.

Kelly B.'s School Project:

"What a great experience for the kids! If my girls had their way, they would spend all of their free time on the farm. They come home dirty, stinky & very tired. The great part is they are away from TV and video games. Mrs. Kelly is great. She has rules and by golly the campers better follow them, or look out! The best part is the girls are chomping at the bit to get back over there. Ha! I Love it. Good Job Mrs. Kelly" -- M.B.

Give these kids a camera and a cute animal and they just go nuts!

"Thank you so much for today and the wealth of love and confidence you have instilled in my daughter, so priceless. I thank you again from the bottom of my gracious heart!!!!!! xoxx o K" -- Katherine G.

"LeAnn really had a GREAT week. I couldn't believe how much she learned this year. Was great to see her so excited about EVERYTHING. She really wants to take lessons so I'll have to see if we can swing 3 p.m. in Sept. She is also begging to come to a mini camp. SO hopefully we will see you before next summer this year. Thanks so much," -- Donna

"HI, MRS. KELLY!!! I had the BEST time of my life jumping over fences and running on trails AND racing the golf cart back to the barn. There would be no other way that I would rather spend my vacation. Also I was wondering if you have ANY idea about the Mardi-Gras Break camp... I DON'T WANNA MISS IT :) ! Last but not least, my dad was wondering if we could go on a trail ride... or any available time that we could ride. -thanks in advance...love," -- Madison Monroe

"I recommend this farm camp for any girl who loves horses." -- Maddie C.

"Camille and Grace loved your summer camp so much they want to do the Christmas camp. I hope there is still room for them." -- Catherine Camp

-- Mary Jane

(Regarding Taylor C. of Duson, LA)
"I will try to bring her for maybe a day so she can visit w/Jack and of course you LOL. She was so heart broken last year about having to leave JACK. I have never seen her take a liking to something like this before. You must have really made a big impact in her life. In fact her grades were weak and we got them improved w/the promise of seeing Jack for the DAY. Hope to see you soon." -- MC

"Thanks for a great Easter Camp. Cole had such a good time. The first thing that she asked when she got home was to go back for a trail ride today! She also said that she would leave her school and friends if we could just move out to the country and get a horse and live on a farm like yours. Looks like you have a lifelong camper! Thanks and Happy Easter." -- Michele C.

"I just wanted to thank you for making camp this week so much fun!!!! Thank you for letting me ride Leo! He is my favorite horse at the farm. Once again thanks!!"
-- Lenora D.

"I had such a fun time at camp riding the horses, naming goats, playing with
the puppies, making tee-shirts and memory books, and cooking green beans.
As soon as I got home I wanted to go back! I just wanted to say thanks for a great camp and I can't wait for the next one. Oh and could you tell buster that i said hi? Thanks Mrs. Kelly for a wonderful camp."
-- Cole C.

"Must I even say it? Camp. Amazing. Awesome. Fantasic. And all of the above!
I really thought that it was neat when you let us feed by ourselves- that (and I'm speaking for all of us) made us feel so proud after we finished- Hondo was AWESOMELY pretty & nice. I CANT wait till the next camp... MAN! I'm counting down the days and I just left! Another camp gone by- another group of girls- another week of memories! Thanks for making camp special! - Love,"

(Regarding Kymi of Bush, LA)
"Here are some of the pics I have of Kymi with her new puppy (LilliBelle) and Smilie. I included a picture of her using her new cooking skills that she learned at camp on the rest of the family" -- David R.

"Ha this is the last thank you email of the summer! You're probably getting a ton, since your camp is amazing! I love it and you! And this is with EXTRA thanks- since I came 2 weeks in a row!! (which was... What's the word? Oh yeah, AWESOME!!:D) I hope that next year you let me become a counselor, and you can bet your bottom dollar that on August first- my email about thanksgiving camp will bee coming in! Can't wait till my next chance to see the farm again! <333 Madison Monroe P.S. Tell cosmo to shape up:P" -- Madison Monroe

"Hey Kelly! Its Paige's mom. Paige misses Rio, she had such a positive attitude after camp, you really do a great job. Thanks! And have a blessed day!"
-AND-
"We had such a great time Saturday. James and Ashley were fantastic! So tell them I will have to get them next time! And we are looking into the October session now for Paige. She just adores you and all of your pets :) Being a single mom, with 2 'almost teenagers', it's a sigh of relief to get them to stop fighting long enough to smile and share a day with me with no fussing, and you helped create that day for us. Thanks so much!"
--Jamie N. (mother of Paige)

"Hi Mrs Kelly it's Cole. I just wanted to say thank you for an awesome camp. I loved Leo. I had such a good time making those blueberry cobblers they were really good and I think the rodeo was good too even if I was about to pass out! So anyway thank you!!" -- Cole C.
